Development:

The .223 Remington cartridge evolved from the renowned 7.62x51mm NATO round, designed for intermediate power. It was officially introduced to the US Army during the 1960s and 1970s when the AR-15 rifle, later known as the M16, was adopted. In 1977, NATO standardized this cartridge alongside the original 7.62x51mm. The civilian version, known as the .223 Remington, is dimensionally identical to the military 5.56x45mm NATO round, though the latter is loaded to higher pressure.

Construction and Care Instructions:

The pendant is crafted from brass and securely mounted into the cartridge’s primer pocket, ensuring that it is watertight, unlike most other similar products. Brass and other metal plated components can be easily polished to maintain their original shine using specialized brass renewal products (Brasso).

The chain, made from stainless steel in a US DOG TAG style, adds a rugged yet refined touch. Stainless steel requires minimal maintenance and resists rust and tarnish.
