Widely recognized as a standard issue for nearly all U.S. armed forces, the .38 Special remains the most common revolver cartridge among civilians. It is still used in revolvers by manufacturers like Smith & Wesson, Colt, Uberti, Taurus, Alfa, and others. The cartridge also fits some semi-automatic pistols and repeating rifles and served as the official cartridge of the US Police in revolvers for a long time.
