Cartridge Development:
The .45 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol), also known as .45 Auto, was designed by John Moses Browning in 1904 for use in his prototype of the Colt semi-automatic pistol. After successful military trials, it was adopted as the standard cartridge for the Colt M1911 pistol and the Thompson submachine gun.
Cartridge Usage:
This cartridge was actively used during both World Wars, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. It remains a part of the standard arsenal of the U.S. military.
