This cartridge was specially tailored for the Tokarev TT-33 pistol, which was the standard sidearm of the Red Army during World War II. It is very similar to the 7.63mm Mauser cartridge.

The 7.62x25mm Tokarev cartridge was known for its high muzzle velocity and medium-range effectiveness. It also had the capability to penetrate light ballistic vests, an innovative feature at the time. It was used not only in the military but also by police and civilians.
