About the 7.62x54R Cartridge:

Cartridge Development:

The 7.62x54R Mosin cartridge is a rimmed, centerfire Russian round, originally designed for the infantry rifle Mosin Nagant. Introduced to service in Imperial Russia in 1891, its tapered, rimmed case is indicative of its age, similar to the 8x50R Lebel or 8x56R Mannlicher cartridges. The 'R' in the name refers to its rimmed (rimmed in English)

Despite being a design from the late 19th century, its ballistic performance still ranks it at the forefront in its caliber class today. This ammunition is used in self-loading rifles such as the SVT-40 and even in sniper rifles like the SVD Dragunov. It has also found limited use in bolt-action rifles derived from the Mosin Nagant manufactured outside Russia or the Soviet Union, like the Czechoslovak OPU 54 rifle.

After World War II, this cartridge became one of the standard machine gun rounds of the Warsaw Pact and was used in weapons like the UK vz.59 machine gun and the PK machine gun. It has been produced in special variants for machine guns, including tracer, incendiary, and armor-piercing rounds.

This ammunition continues to serve standardly in various armed forces and is currently the longest-serving military cartridge in the world.

The necklace's clasp is machined from brass and securely crimped into the base of the cartridge at the primer position, ensuring the pendant's waterproof nature, distinguishing it from most similar competing products. Brass components can be polished with brass-specific treatments like Brasso.

The DOG TAG chain is highly durable, and any contamination can be cleaned with standard cleaning agents without concerns.
